“Love” is in the air

Valentine is nearing and our baby ben is getting excited. But he must thank heavens that he got nice friends like us who helps him through thick and thin (Hahaha, a bit kua zhang). So anyway, we- me and Renhao- went with Benji to look for his Val stuff at Sister-in-Law -translate- shop. The sum of the items= $12. Budget shopping spree. After that, we went looking for colored sand. Just as we were about to walk down the escalator, Ben saw the art work done with colored sand. Ben and I immediately stopped and turn back but Renhao went halfway down the escalator before he realised that we were not with him and quickly rushed back up the escalator. Kersou. The goods are only arriving next week and Ben needs it done by Saturday. So we enquired about other places where they sell the sand and were directed to Popular and DIY stores. So we went down to Home-Fix, but only found glass bottle paint. Ben spent a few more dollars on candles which he will use for sticking the fake roses into. That was yesterday.

Today, we skipped half of PSY 101 as it was group presentation time and we were totally uninterested. The three of us walked down to the road opposite Bukit Timah Food Center as Ben was thinking that the place might have Saga trees. Disappointed. We were reluctant to try Bukit Timah Hill as we thought that we might waste a whole lot of time as I am not very sure about finding Saga seeds since most seem to have disappeared on the island- they were on the whole stretch of road from Bukit Timah Food Center to Jalan Jurong Kechil.

So Ben was very sure that we would be able to find the seeds at Botanic Gardens- we later know that he based that theory on the fact that it is Botanic Gardens. Following that decision, Renhao called Ryan to ask him about the Saga seeds and for him to wait for us at the bus stop near his house, which Ben said was 4-5 stops away. We walked to the food center to get a drink and Ben who never gets his stomach filled properly, ordered a bowl of bar chor mee. We then walked all the way to the bus stop after the railway track above Bukit Timah Road. Forgot what bus we took, but it definitely wasn’t the 4-5 stops claimed by Ben. It was more than double. Tried to strangle Ben then.

We reached the bus stop near Ryan’s house and he was sitting there asleep. Poor Ryan, he waited half an hour. He then brought us to walk through CCAB and there we are, the Botanical Gardens. And we were at? The Bukit Timah end of the park. We walked around asking for the Saga tree. Almost 2 hours we trekked looking for the trees and the seeds. And I was wearing leather shoes. My sole turned hot and painful.

After asking several rangers, we finally found the only two Saga trees left. And… there was only a seed. I found another one while kicking the leaves, but it immediately became lost. Tired and in despair, I went to get the drinks. Ben asked me to get for everyone and gave me 2 bucks plus. Luckily, I have a buck of my own, and each can costs a dollar- it was alot cheaper compared to the cafe at the visitor center. So, I got a can for myself, another for Ben, and the last for Renhao. Ryan bought his own.

We went seperate ways with Renhao, trekking all the way back to the place where we came from. One end to the other. We exited at Cluny Park gate, where Ben and I parted with Ryan. Whew. Had to trek another km to get out of the place.

PS. We are still looking for the seeds. Anyone with info please alert us.
