Public transport are useless!
Posted in The Prophet on March 31st, 2006 by MoleznevToday I am in super high Top Gear mode. I am so anti public transport. Enviromentalist should stop their psycho-ing of getting more people to use the public transport. Governments should stop their campaign for more people to switch to public transport. Especially the Singapore government. Scrap the bloody COEs and take aways those stupid ERP gantries. You are just making life difficult for the working people. Hey consumers out there! If you find your installation jobs and your delivery costs to your house increasing… Blame the government. Blame the transport body. Don’t blame the people providing the service. When your delivery arrives late.. don’t call the company who is supposed to be delivering. Call the authorities. Cos the delivery guy is probably stuck in a jam that is due to the ERP gantry timing for tolls.
And if small company cannot afford to buy a car because of the high prices of cars in Singapore, turns up late at a meeting because he was taking public transport, don’t scream at him. Scream at the government. Tell you why. That guy may have gone out early, but the timings for public transport arrival times are so irregular that his lateness was caused by them. Sometimes there are no buses for 10-15 minutes, than comes 2-3 of the same bus. And then there are times when a the interval is 10-15 minutes max, but the bus arrives in 30 minutes to more than an hour.
And then taking public transport also wastes time. And time=money in a fast paced society like Singapore. Taking bus home from school will take me almost an hour. But driving takes abt 10 minutes. Thats 1/6 of the time. An hour will get me out of Johor if I’m in a car.
Even the train is slow. There are times a train takes 6 or 7Â minutes to arrive. And the speed they are travelling at, its snail! No public transport can beat a fast car. Not even the Euro Express and TGV and the airplane and the ferry and all the shit as Jeremy proved them. And public transport are environmentally unfriendly too. A bus produces more poisonous gases than cars. An MRT uses up lots of electricity which is produced by burning fuel.
If the government really wants to control the number of cars, use a discrimination method. Less expensive COE for small cars like the Swift and more expensive COE for cars like the S-Class. Swift don’t use lots petrol and it doesn’t clog the road.
Finally, instead of giving out fine to people who travel at acceptable speeds of 100km/h or more, fine those road hoggers who travel at 60km/h on the expressway. The main causes of the road accidents are speed limits, road hoggers and stupid pedestrians. Hmm, maybe also the lack of facilities on the road.
