No More School on Mondays AGAIN!

Posted in The Prophet on May 31st, 2006 by Moleznev

I have decided. From now on, I will not go to school on Mondays for any projects! Damn it. Because I went to school on Monday, my Top Gear download has to be delayed. Not delay by few hours to a day. Delayed by 3 DAYS! Aw FUCK!

Victory Day!

KERSOU! Went to school bloody early in the morning today. I was in the student lounge since 8.35am waiting for KJ and Bernard to arrive. We are supposed to meet at 9.30am. But by the time I finished watching the episode of Top Gear I downloaded yesterday, both still hasn’t arrive! KJ finally arrived at about 9.50am. Bernard was exactly an hour, fifteen minutes and six seconds late (SST).

Talking about the episode of Top Gear I watched. It was the one with the indestructible Toyota Hilux! And also the guest star, Simon Cowell! Hahaha. Both Jeremy and Simon were arguing constantly. But one thing they said… very very important. Yet no government has bothered taking in the views. Damn it. Anyway, what they said was, why should the poor be allowed to have privileges of getting around faster than the important people. They were of course referring to the bus lanes. Moscow has a special lane for the rich and famous. They were supposed to be the very first communists! Yet, yet all the other countries do not have special privileges on the road for the richer people, but they have this special road for the poor people. Why do these people need to rush for? In Singapore, its worse. Bus lanes are only for buses and emergency vehicles! What the hell. Not even cabs! You people who rushing for time should not take bus! Take cabs! Why should we give way to buses when we pay so much more for the roads? Ass clowns!

Back to school topics. Now, its my whining time. Stupid ass! Stupid report! Because of the report, I can’t stay at home and download Top Gear’s new episode today! So until now, I’m still wating for the download. Anyway, RH so obvious he trying to be nice to Zhi today! Hahahaha. Not doing his own project but helping Zhi’s group with theirs! Hahaha. Paiseh, sided a while. Back to what I did today. Foosball! BUAHAHAHA. I won almost every game I played today. Won Bernard in a one on one 7-0. Lost to KJ 10-9. Then Navi and me trashed his friends in 5-7 games, the last game was a 10-0! The games we lost were small loses. And then, with his friend who lost terribly, I won Navi and the other guy in 3 out of 4 games! BUAHAHAHA! So proud of myself. And see ya guys tomorrow!

Toybota!

Posted in The Prophet on May 24th, 2006 by Moleznev

What do you get when you add a 225hp Honda speed boat engine on to a Toyota Hilux? A Toybota! Another creation of Clarkson. The infamous engineer who ruins the so many cars he brought on Top Gear.

First day back at school and we were told that we will have all our lecturers from UB for this semester! YAY! No more nonsense local lecturers like what we had for the last two semesters! And I still hate the two “Doctors” Ah Yeap and Ah Leong. I’m gonna complain about them to Hindrawan later if he asks me about my results. Shut up you asshole! Give me lousy local lecturers and you want me to ace? This local lecturers have no US standard at all. Whats more, those two “Doctors” can’t even teach! Go home and sleep!

We got this Dr Ramesh from UB for MGQ 301. Kind of boring, but the test he sets counts more than his lectures. The class was unusually small yesterday. Especially at the start and at the end. Most people just didn’t bothered to attend the lectures. Claire wasn’t there. Ha.. Must be thinking of her Gabriel- I still think that Gabriel is a girl’s name, maybe unisex name in Asia.. But its definitely a girls name..Watch Constantine and you will know.

I got a huge poky with thick choc all over it from Jas as my birthday present. Hahaha. Kind of pathetic ain’t it? A stick of poky for my b’dae is all I got this year? But huge thanks anyway!

Windows Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2

Posted in The Prophet on May 23rd, 2006 by Moleznev

It has been some time since I last used the IE 7. The last time I did a review on it was when I tested it out in the release of the beta version for developers. This time, I tried the latest beta release for: public. Yes, the IE 7 has been out for public for quite some time already but I have yet to test it out. Something you should have realized by now is the change of names. No longer Microsoft IE but Windows IE now.

For this review, I am going to compare it to the IE 6 and the very first IE 7 beta. In the beta 2 release of IE 7, Microsoft still decided not to have the bar where you find File, View and all. Don’t know what you call it. But, it seems like an important feature went missing when it’s not there. The new beta also has a slightly improve GUI from the first beta. Now you have everything listed out in buttons instead of drop down menus. The Favorites button now “drops down” into a box. There is a button at the side of the box where you can pin it down to make it a “center”, just like what you get when you click on the favorites button in IE 6. The “Add to favorites” button is now right beside “Favorites”- which is a star icon. In the favorites center, you can find RSS feeds and history together with it. Now we know where the History button went to.

Also, in beta 2, you can have several home pages. How to? you ask. Thats what I was thinking when I saw the home page button with an arrow and space to list several pages. If you remember, there is this extra tab feature which Microsoft added in IE 7 to compete with Mozilla and other browsers out there. And there is the answer. When you start IE 7, depending on how many home pages you set, the number of tabs open in the same window and each of them in their own respective home page.

To pit it out against Mozilla, Microsoft also added another feature which I have not seen before in other browsers. Its called the “Quick Tabs”. When you click on this button, a page with thumbnails of every tab within that single IE window shows up, just like Microsoft Powerpoint Slide Sorter View. How amazing is that.

There is however one major flaw with this tab thingy. In Mozilla Firefox, when you use the center scroll button to click on a link, it opens that link in another tab in the same window. The IE 7 does the same. But it doesn’t allow you to click the “Back” or Forward” button in the same way! I got kind of irritated when I tried to do that. I clicked around everywhere with the center button as I was on an important page and I needed to read something before that page without interupting what I was doing. In the end, I got into the quick tabs page and clicked on one of the thumbnails with the scroll button… Voila… It closes that tab. What a disgrace that is.

And then, as some may know, I power my blog with WordPress. While writing, I have some tabs like setting the category for that post, adding password and such. These don’t work properly with IE 7. Whenever I click on the + or - sign, a window pops up asking me whether I would like to navigate away from the page. WHAT? These features don’t open a new page! Luckily, I have already upgraded to WP2, if not, all my writing would be in the drain.

Another problem with IE 7 is that it is still not very compatible with some sites. For example, I couldn’t use the new Yahoo! home page because it is only compatible with the old- and I mean really old, its a few years old- version IE, the IE 6. This is however an improvement over the first beta when I couldn’t even open my Yahoo Mailbox properly.

Some great improvements by Microsoft, but they still have a long way ahead.

P.S. I hate the new IE logo.

M1 the number 1 faker in industry

Posted in The Prophet on May 20th, 2006 by Moleznev

No need me to explain. Everyone should know all about their stupid terms and their stupid ways of making consumers pay more. I wonder what is CASE doing.

Now, we should not only involve CASE but also the advertising authority. We all know- alright, the techies- that M1 has advertised about their Unlimited 3G plan at $68 per month with the Vodafone card free if you sign up for two years. But do you know that the unlimited 3G advertised is not really unlimited?

1. For data services with unlimited usage benefits, your usage should not be:

(a) Excessive (downloading or uploading more than 1 GB each month inclusive of video streaming, video calls, email access, VOIP calls and dowloading and uploading of any contents); or
(b) Unreasonable (use which may adversely affect our network, or other customers’ use of our network and/or services); or
(c) Fraudulent (including resupplying our service without our consent to a third party to access the data services).

2. If you are in breach of Clause 1 above, we shall, without notice to you, have the right to:

(a) charge you a rate of S$0.01 per KB in blocks of 10KB, for continued data services usage; or
(b) suspend, limit or terminate the service (or any feature of it) for any period reasonably necessary.

This is the so called “fair usage terms”. WTF la! They trying to protect themselves only. Scared they cannot support. How can you not use more than 1GB if you are using a computer. And if its only 1GB of usage, shouldn’t they advertise as 1GB free usage per month 3G?
