a day’s work as a maid

On the way to work yesterday, I heard some discussion about an employer giving the maid only 200 calories or so a day. The invited guests on the radio were certainly right about people making a big fuss when they hear some bad advocation of employers to maids. Hardly has anyone talked about horrible maids on major news.

Why has no one spared any thoughts for the employers? Put yourselves in the shoes of the employer. Getting home after a tired day at work, a day of getting scolded by your bosses, by your clients, haggling with customers, don't you want to rest? And what do you get? Maids who turned the house upside down, cook horrible food, spoil your clothes, so on and so for.

I find it weird that there are so many rules imposing on what a maid can or cannot do to "protect" them. What's the problem with them using a cloth to wipe the grease off the floor instead of a mop? What's with them cleaning windows? I'm not saying they should risk their lives for it, they could have cleaned on the inside. And there are so much stuff the government do not allow us to make them do that in the end, we have to do it ourselves. So our lives are not as precious? We pay the maids to come here and enjoy life? To eat our food? And to spoil our stuff? What's the meaning of this?

If you have not had a maid before, please do not comment. You do not know what the worst maids can be like. They spoil your shirts, washing machine, iron, refrigerator, anything they could lay their hands on. They can't clean, can't cook, can't do nuts. When I had the time, I cleaned the house better than the maid, my sis doesn't even bother to ask the maid to cook, but dragged me from my com to cook for her. And yet, I'm very sure, if there are Singaporeans out there who sees this entry, they will surely be firing at me.

Those people must have not tasted life with these maids. And they must be bragging about how they could be able to handle it. Handle my foot. No sense of loyalty braggards. Singaporeans are forever helping foreigners. Are there laws out there to help our younger generation get into the workforce? Nope. Are there funds out there to feed them when they can't find a job after graduation? Hardly any? But why are we sending major aids to Indonesia when they ban exports of sand to us which seriously sabotaged our building industry? Noob heads.
