British bastards bullying Singapore senior citizen

Posted in The Prophet on November 2nd, 2007 by Moleznev

One thing I can't stand in this society is the act of bullying a helpless person, especially if the person is a senior citizen. I was browsing a blog called "All and Sundry Singapore" when I came across this post. I was totally enraged. How could these people say such stuff? The young lad was laughing and commenting on how slow the old man is riding at. Hello, young fella, I would like to see you ride the trishaw with a 200kg load and go faster, what's more, that man is 67 years old. Try asking your father to ride it with 3 of you laughing and playing on board.

Responding to our queries, Mr Bo Davis, 26, said he did not feel they were being bullies at all. 'I don't abide bullying,' he said.

And how dare you say that you are not bullying. This is totally outrageous behavior and I was surprised the Taxi driver did not contact the call center and bring them straight to Police Cantonment Complex.

I remembered Jeremy Clarkson saying that when he steps on American soil, he thinks that he is the only civilized being around, and look at how his countrymen behaves on foreign soil. Yet, that Brit, that Bo Davis guy, he could say that people are reacting because of his nationality, and because he is white, therefore people are enraged by his behavior. Mr. Bo Davis 'Jr', I do not know how the Brits teach their children, but we would not allow our children to act like this, and we do not base our moral principles by race differences. Please, grow up if you will.

What it takes to be Singaporean

Posted in The Prophet on November 1st, 2007 by Moleznev

Having spent some time overseas, I realized what it means and takes to be Singaporean. You are not a Singaporean just because you hold a pink I/C, drive a car which costs 3 times the amount others pay, live in a neighborhood where every building is a high rise building. You are a Singaporean when you could speak 'Singlish'. No, no, I'm not saying we should speak 'Singlish' as our first language, I would be 'shot' in a Toastmasters meeting for saying that. What I'm saying is, lets all speak in our informal language, when we meet for that informal gathering.

'Singlish' isn't all that bad. It is just a language which no one else other than we and our neighbor understands. And it doesn't mean that only those who speak 'Singlish' speaks 'broken' English. I've seen lots of weird English in the 'American land'.

I would find it perfectly normal when I hear someone say, "Flip it over before it gets chao ta-ed" at a BBQ, or "Can you kope some of the drinks for me?",  or "Who's that ang moh?", or "Wayang", or "That guy is so Ah Beng/The girl is so Ah Lian", and whatever other 'Singlish' stuff I couldn't remember at this time. In fact, I find 'Singlish' pretty useful when I'm out of South East Asia. It gets tough when everyone around you seem to know a language that you knew and you can't communicate with your friends without being overheard. That's when 'Singlish' comes in handy. That's when you get excited that you finally know something useful. =D Feel free to add in whatever other 'Singlish' you know.
